Lori’s treatments went well yesterday. She was able to get her Chemo since her white blood count was back to normal. With this info Dr. Picozzo set us up for treatment every other week. This allows Lori’s white blood count to return to normal while the Chemo is doing its thing during the week. She has not been sick or ill so far so keep up your prayers. This is truly a blessing. We did have a discussion on the benefits of having Chemo every two weeks vs every other week. Picozzo explained to us that we are not in a Race, but we are in a journey, this means Lori’s body is doing great under the current plan so he does not want to endanger her by pushing when it is not needed. He is very happy with her progress and her outlook. We are scheduled every other week now (June 9-My Birthday-, 23, July-7,21). Because of our cancellation last week we had to accept a late Chemo this week. This put us in doing blood tests at 11:00 with Chemo starting at 3:00pm and ending at 6:00pm. Needless to say this puts us back in Spokane around 11:30pm so this makes for a late day. Our next appointments are scheduled for 10:00am so we should be able to leave Seattle by 2 or 3, putting us back in Spokane by 8pm. This makes it better for our family and Lori. Dr. Picozzi is off to Chicago this week doing some Pancreatic lectures at ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) with some other oncologists from John Hopkins. This lets us know he is active in the field and a noted speaker on the subject matter. We find comfort in knowing that he is a leader in the field and we are fortunate enough to be under his care. The ASCO site is located at http://www.asco.org/asco/downloads/asco_final_program.pdf where you can refer to page 29 for Dr. Picozzi's lecture. BTW: We will have some pictures of Dr. Picozzo and Lori on this site soon. This week Lori’s Brother (Tony) is down from Alaska as well as her mother Bonnie. They are scheduled to leave on Sunday for their trip back to Anchorage. Tony is finishing up school baseball tomorrow and Ashton is just starting her summer softball practice this week. Tony will also be starting his summer baseball next week. Of course I’m assisting with each team so we area scheduled for a busy summer already. Last weekend we traveled to Hanford to watch Ashton pitch run for her High School Varsity Softball team. She was called up from JV, so being a freshman this was a pretty big honor. We then went out to the lake on Sunday and spent the night with some of our Maverick friends. Tony drove the jetski for 10 or so miles each way. When he got off of the Jetski his toes were blue (this means he had fun !). Lori then prepared some Vegetarian chili for dinner. Tony was not too excited about dinner so Scott Walters came to the rescue with a nice big German sausage with cheese. Needless to say this made Tony’s night and Lori and I had left over Vegetarian chili. Thanks again to everyone for their prayers, they are being felt everyday |
