Good News, Lori's White blood count was at 4500 so she was able to take her third treatment on Monday. This was my birthday wish so wishes do come true! When we began this journey her white blood count was at 4000, then under 2000 and at 3800 on her next to last treatment. This means her immune system is kicking into gear and producing more white blood cells to fight off infection. We credit this increase to a better diet and tons of prayer, not to mention her ability to focus on her health and faith full time. Dr Picozzi was very pleased with her reception of the chemo and the small amount of side effects. We are scheduled for another treatment on June 23rd with another one July 7th. On the 7th Lori is scheduled for another CRT where we will review our progress. Keep your prayers strong for a miraculous recovery. We are hopeful that the chemo has done its job and that we can look to radiation or possible surgery or maybe no cancer at all! Dr. Picozzi is also scheduled for another lecture tour with some of his little friends from Tom Hopkins in the next month or so. He is really a strong advocate for additional Pancreatic research, so we continue to feel fortunate to be under his care. Lori is doing great. She is starting to loose more of her hair so the reality of what we are going through is weighing heavy on our hearts. She has bought some hats so she is starting to feel better when wearing them. She also has lots of wigs to try on but she has not selected one to date. On Thursday of this week she is going to Vicky (her hair dresser) to see what she can do about styling one she likes. She is scared if she starts to wear a wig that it might blow off. The kids and I thought she could use some rubber cement on her head but she is not sure she likes this idea, not to mention she punched each of us for making the suggestion. Lori is also telecommuting for her work. She is limited to 16 hours a week starting June 14th. We appreciate the Community Colleges of Spokane for working with us so that Lori can continue to work. She misses her daily routine with her folks at work and it is her goal to return to full time work as soon as possible. Lori is also maintaining her weight which is a great struggle while doing chemo. She had to have her rings resized so our friend Tom Hindley whipped them into shape last week. She is grateful that they are not flopping around now and Tom filled us in on his past hydro racing life and his world record of going 100mhp in a circle while laying down in a fast boat of about 16 feet long. Pretty scaring for sure. He even showed us a letter from the guy who was the first to go 100mph in these types of boats congratulating him on his accomplishment. Tom graduated to running the unlimited hydro's that go over 200mph, and by the way he almost lost his life in a really bad wreck in one of these. Now he likes to sit in his Carver and reminisce with a swisher sweet. The kids are busy as usual. Tony is playing summer basketball and baseball while Ashton is concentrating on her summer softball. Both of the kids get out of school this week so needless to say they are a little wired this week. We are hoping to combine some of our Seattle trips into mini vacations this summer. We would like to travel the coast of Washington and the Olympic forest and do some costal exploring. We also hope to spend our off weeks on the boat. Take care and remember the power of prayer, we know our family feels it everyday. |
