A Great Week!
This has been one of the best weeks Lori has had in quite a few months. She is eating very well and her energy level is pretty high. She has been coming into work more and putting in 3 or more (1/2 days a week). It seems that she is starting to re-coup from the last radiation/chemo round and she is feeling much better. We have been walking more during the evenings and she says she feels better after our walks. I figure we are at a 1/2 mile now so we are going to work up to 1 mile a night soon! Lori has been enjoying her BSF bible study and finding continued strength and purpose there. Overall our week last week was a 10.
We have scheduled our next chemo round in Seattle starting on may 13th. The next chemo regiment will consist of two days of chemo. On the first day Lori will receive a 2 hour infusion of Gemcitabine and on day two she will receive a 2 hour infusion of Oxaliplatin. This will require two days. After our first treatment we will be able to come to Spokane for the 2nd day treatment. This will only put us out of town for one day every two weeks, a similar schedule like last year.
Dr. Picozzi is off to Italy this week lecturing on Pancreatic Cancer and his achievements to date. We are so fortunate to be under his care. He is a real worldwide leader in the field and thank God we found him so close to home.
The kids have been pretty busy this week. Tony made the varsity baseball team for his 8th grade class so we have been hitting grounders and throwing for a month now (my arm already hurt before this). It appears he will be the starting second baseman so he is pretty excited. They have been running a lot at his practices so he is getting in shape.
Ashton had a volleyball tournament last Sunday. During one game she served 12 points in a row with 4 aces. During her softball game this Tuesday she hit two triples, a double and was walked. She could have had two homers but the girl in front of her stopped running! She has two more volleyball tournaments left and then she will be finishing up her softball in the next few weeks.
Lori and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary last Friday. We took the kids with us for a nice dinner. Our anniversary is also the day Lori was diagnosed so it is a memorable day for us.
I will be helping to coach Ashton's select softball team this summer so we are having try-outs this Saturday. On Sunday Ashton has a volleyball tournament and we are the food parents for this tournament. Looks like we will be busy this weekend.
Thanks to everyone for their prayers, cards and calls. We continue to be blessed and we are thankful for where we are at.
God Bless.
